Chapter 1

When I woke up, I wasn’t a newborn baby as I thought would happen, rather, I feel as if my body was already a year old. I still couldn’t speak and walk but I could crawl.

I looked around and all I saw was a small room with a single door and a bed that I assumed was mine was by the window. Might as well see what outside looks like. As I was trying to climb the bed, the door suddenly opened.

‘Leo-kun! Your mama is here!'(Nitra)

Nitra, my mother, ran inside and charged straight towards me. She lifted me and hugged me while spinning in a circle. Really, she’s so energetic.

I point at the window while tugging at her sleeve so that she would bring me to the window. She carried me to the window and showed me the vibrant plains that spread before me. Then the dense forest past the plains looks to be full of dangerous creatures. But given that this is a new world and this is my ‘playground’, that would seem normal.

‘Soon Leo-kun, you’ll be outside and running around. You’ll be the strongest person out there, not to mention demi-god. Let’s go meet daddy now.'(Nitra)

Nitra carried me out the door into what seemed like the living room. Though the outside looked to be filled with nature, the living room looked to belong to a modern house. A flat screen was attached to the wall, beanbags sat beside the couches, glass tables, electric lamps, there’s even a sounds system installed around the room.

And in the middle of the room, Mios sat concentrating while sinking in a beanbag in holding what looked to be a game controller for consoles, the same that was in earth. I expected a room filled to the brim with magic, but instead I’m looking at a modern 21st century house.

Nitra placed me on Mios’ lap and simply sat beside him on the beanbag. So I leaned against my dad’s soft and fluffy fur as I sat there, thus beginning my new life in Valtras.

It’s been five years and Nitra already taught me the majority of Valtras’ languages. And Mios exercising me hard whenever we’re not fooling around and playing in the plains.

At the very least I’ve gotten past my shock when I found out I had cat ears and a tail. At least the tail was useful for distracting Nitra. My hearing became sharper thanks to my ears.

My room has new additions too. I now have a chair, a desk, a beanbag at the corner of the room, my own flatscreen and game console, and of course, my own desktop. I still can’t shake the fact that powerful gods like my parents prefer using modern technology when they could do it themselves with magic.

I mean, we even have porcelain bathrooms with showers and a bath. My house is basically like one of those secluded houses built in the middle of nowhere back in earth, except mine is full of magically powered technology. Eco-friendly. Treehuggers would love this house.

Maybe it’s the cat genes that’s talking but I really wish I could just sleep on a bunch of beanbags and sink in them.

‘Leo-kun! Dear! Dinner is ready.'(Nitra)

I ran towards the dining room since I was promised my favorite meal. As a half-japanese in my previous life I love sushi and sashimi, and now that I’m a cat-kin, I love them more so.

Mios and I sat on our chair with our tails raised up in anticipation. Nitra placed the glorious meal in front of us and as if prey was presented to us, we dove into it. Mios and I stuffed ourselves while Nitra ate and watched us eat with sparkling eyes.

As we paced ourselves with our eating, I remembered a question I always wanted to ask Mios.

‘Dad, why do you have cat ears when you’re the Lion god of war? You don’t have a mane, and your ears are for cats not for lions.'(Leo)

As I asked the question, Mios slightly turned red.

‘That’s because… Nitra prefers cats and she said I looked… cuter… as a cat than a lion. That’s also why I’m a cat-kin right now.'(Mios)

‘And thanks to that, I have two cat-kins all to myself to play with. Both of you are just too fluffy, and if you ever add ‘nya’ at the end of your sentences it’ll be perfect. Mios wouldn’t do it and even Leo-kun refuses to do it too… It’s making mama sad.'(Nitra)

She then stood up and began clearing the table and brought them to the kitchen. Mios brought me to the living room and passed me a game controller.

‘Let’s play a few matches before we go for evening training. Today I’ll have a better KDA than you!'(Mios)

And apparently my dad is not only a combat buff, but also loves first-person shooter games(FPS), and role-playing games(RPG), and recently started playing multiplayer online battle arena games(MOBA). I still wonder how we have internet, and what we’re connected to. I mean who do you play against in MOBA games when you’re in a world where internet doesn’t even exist?

Mios just shrugs and tells me that he just connects to other worlds and sometimes with other gods. He makes it sounds like the other worlds were just one click away. After playing a few games, by that I mean different games, Mios was satisfied and we went out to workout.

He made me do a series of dashes, run laps, climb the rock wall that he had Nitra make a year ago, and run the obstacle course that he kept changing depending on his mood. At first I was ready to collapse when I first did the regiment, and now I was able to do it while just barely breaking a sweat.

After finishing the workout, Mios tossed me a wooden sword. I suppose this mean combat sparring.

‘Okay Leo, I want you to attack me, I’ll only defend.'(Mios)

I felt the weight and balance of the sword. They were perfect. I never used a sword before, at least in my previous life, so this is a first for me. But it felt nice, it felt like an extention of my arm.

I charged towards Mios and tried to thrust my sword into his exposed stomach but my sword was easily parried to the side. So I spun sideways following the path of the sword and slashed at him using the momentum is of the spin. But this time the I was disarmed and thrown to the side. As I flew, for a split second, I thought I saw the real form of the Lion god flicker in my vision. Right before I landed, I was caught by Mios. I was looking at him standing there then instantly vanished from my sight then caught me.

I’m sure I want to learn everything my dad can teach me. I want to be as strong as him and be able to reach the peak that the gods created. I’m sure Nitra would happily teach me everything she knows, and I’ll gladly learn them all.

‘I guess I win Leo.'(Mios)

‘Going all out on your son on the first try is kind of childish.'(Leo)

‘Well, work hard so you can be as strong as your dad.'(Mios)

Mios said so with a grin seeing as I was looking at him with awe. Then he carried me back to the house.

‘Let’s head back. We’ll pick this up tomorrow morning.'(Mios)

As we entered the house Mios tossed me towards the beanbags. Then he entered the kitchen and brought out some jerky. We munched on them as we watched TV. Nitra came out of their room right as we finished watching.

‘Leo-kun! Time to sleep! I’ll carry you to your bed.'(Nitra)

At this point, I realized that walking in the house is going to be hard. As she carried me to my room, I asked her to teach me magic. As expected, she happily agreed.

As I was fixing myself on the bed, Nitra stared at me with those eyes that looked as if she didn’t want to let me go. Then I remembered that I don’t know how to check my status yet.

So I asked her. Apparently it was simply saying ‘open’ using the language of the gods. Apparently even though I’m a [Demi-god], ‘open’ is the only word I can use, or any non-god being can use.

‘Thank you mom nya~.'(Leo)

Just as I said that, Nitra’s eyes went wide and began screaming ‘kyaa’ over and over while hugging me. Note to self, ‘nya’ is never to be uttered near my mother.

As soon as she left, I took a deep breath and check my status.

That’s a lot of skills… I maybe I should have thought about this more.

That said, I just exercised, learned language, and played video games and I still gained 9 levels. Well, I’d rather not think about how this works. Let’s just check out my skills.

Maybe I’ll try a few skills before going to sleep. [Origin of Creation] allows me to create anything once a day, so I’ll start with that. I say that I’ll use it but I don’t even know how to. I guess it’s time to experiment. I tried calling out the name of what I wanted.

‘Zabimaru.'(Leo)

I wait a few second and nothing happened. Nitra did say that mana comes from within the body. Maybe if I imagine the mana transform into the object, it’ll appear.

I imagine a certain anime’s sword in my mind. The irregular shape and extending parts, and the shape and design of the tsuba, its tsuka and imagine all the parts coming together.

In front of me a faint light appeared then brightened as it took the shape of the sword. The light suddenly flashed then instantly vanished leaving behind what looked to be like Renji’s Zabimaru.

I picked up the heavy sword and inspected it. It did look like Renji’s Zabimaru, but does it work like it? Time to test that out too. I got off my bed and brandished Zabimaru. I thrust the sword and yelled.

‘Roar Zabimaru!'(Leo)

The parts of Zabimarou detached then extended and proceeded to create a hole into the living room then retracted back to the original form. Well, there’s a hole in my room now. But the sword works! I can recreate the epic fight scenes from the shows I’ve watched in Japan. That said, I should check out the new shows too. I have years of worth of shows to watch… Oops, I’m getting sidetracked. Hole in my room, check.

‘Now I need to get rid of the evidence. How does the storage work?'(Leo)

As I thought how to make the storage appear, a hole with a floating menu beside appeared in front of me. I placed the sword through the hole and suddenly the image of the sword along with it’s name appeared in the menu.

‘This really feels like a game now…'(Leo)

I feel tired now. Having a young body really need a lot of sleep. And there’s the hole in my room…

‘Let’s deal with that tomorrow!'(Leo)

I think my parent’s carefree attitudes are rubbing off on me. Well, I’ll just ask mom how to fix the hole with magic tomorrow. That’ll also help me figure out how magic works.

I still need to brush up on my MOBA skills to make sure I don’t lose to dad. I’ll practice for a few hours before sleeping. I’ll be sure to crush him in games to make up for the fact I can’t beat him IRL.

…Definitely rubbing off on me.
